Back in July 2016 I stumbled across a new Block of the Month (BOM) being taught by Carl Hentsch on Craftsy.com. His 6-month course, "2016 Summer Block of the Month" featured a modern & bold version of an Amish Medallion quilt made from bright solids on a black background.
Carl was clear to listen to and carefully demonstrated each technique in a simple format suitable for both beginners to follow as well as more experienced quilters.
As the course progressed, I got to know Carl via social media - mostly via Instagram. I found Carl to be approachable, friendly and encouraging. Any queries via the Craftsy platform or via social media were responded to professionally and promptly.
I recently purchased his new book "New York Beauties & Flying Geese" and I look forward to making more of his patterns.
I have no hesitation recommending Carl as a teacher and would happily enrol in more of his classes as I am able.
Carl, I want to thank you for the time and patience you gave us at the workshop you gave Tuesday at the Quilting Guild in Greater Kansas City. I was exausted by the time I got home. Thanks again. - Patty Borjas
I want to thank you so much for taking the time to visit Prairie Quilt Guild in Wichita and present your programs and teach the workshop.
I loved your program very much. Your color theory was presented in a way that I had never heard before. It was sheer inspiration how you can pull colors from any photograph that is appealing to the eye and design a quilt. The software brought another aspect that would be another great tool for my color/design “toolbox”. I know that I have learned and definitely expanded my knowledge with your method of presenting the slide show along with your trunk show. I know I will apply your teaching to my quilting.
I also took the workshop on spinning stars the next day. I loved the class. Not only is your pattern well written, but every piece has seams pressed very strategically, and it all fits perfectly together. You broke down what appeared to be complicated and made it simple. It was a really fun day with a great teacher.
I had my quilt top pieced in the next 30 days and will have it quilted soon. I’m really happy that the success of the class led to a completed quilt, not another UFO.
I now follow 3 Dog Design Co. on facebook, looking forward to the next great pattern.
